Review: NHL GameCenter 2011-2012

If you’re looking to download an app for your iPhone that will give you instant access to game highlights, stats, and some updates about news and players, you may want to check out the NHL GameCenter 2011-2012 app.

With a user-friendly interface, the home page provides easy access to scores, schedules, game highlights, and more. The app also includes a link to the official NHL Twitter page and the league standings.

During live games, the NHL GameCenter provides an “Ice Tracker” feature that allows the user to view a virtual rink with updated positions on players throughout the game. This is a great way to stay up to date with the game whenever you don’t have the opportunity to watch from home.

Very limited video and audio is also available during live games, but is quickly interrupted by advertisements to purchase an addition to this free app.

With the annual update to the app, the news articles and pre-game videos seem to load effortlessly, making it easier to keep in touch with the latest headlines for specific teams or the NHL in general.

Perhaps my favorite part of this app is the game line-up. The schedule is laid out making all of the games visible from one screen, including the time and matchups for each game. All of the scores can be viewed as the games go on, and information about each game is just a click away. Stats are listed side by side for each team along with pre-game and post-game reports.

A live play-by-play is another great feature, helping the fans stay in touch with the game as much as possible.

With each update, helpful improvements seem to be added to this growing app, giving it a rating of 8/10.

If you haven’t already, download GameCenter to your iPhone via iTunes and let us know what you think.
